Hoyt made each knife by hand, using worn-out file blades as raw material. His unique approach produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Facts have proved that this kind of wrapping method is very stable, and it is far more comfortable to use than ordinary wrapping methods.A young Kansas blacksmith apprentice named Hoyt Buck was looking for a better way to temper steel so it would hold an edge longer. The wrapping method of the Strider combat knife is to wrap the paracord on the handle to form a diamond shape, and to wrap obvious ribs on both sides of the handle. The edges and corners of the handle are smooth, so that it is more comfortable to hold even if it is not wrapped around the rope. Even if it gets wet or soaked in oil, the handle wrapped with rope can be held tighter, and the strong parachute rope can be used in critical moments. The Strider combat knife uses military fiber nylon rope (parachute rope) to wrap the handle. The standard handle of the Strider Combat Knife is an external wrap, and customers can choose from a variety of wrap materials. Most of the Strider combat knives are made of integrated steel, that is, the entire knife blank is made of uniform steel, and the handle part is wrapped with a unique paracord in a traditional Japanese katana winding method, which forms the Strider combat knives unique style.
