Teferi can be good but in my experience Derevi will outlast him easily while building threat. He won't be on the board when it matters. They both pack too many under 4cc answers and Teeg packs too few, especially lacking U. Teeg is not going to shut down Derevi or Druid though and those are his main concerns. Otherwise, Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir will work as well. Best deck you can build to stop all of the other powerful decks in your meta. Shuts down opponents things while working with your things. Quote from apocalypse31 »I have said it before and will say it again, Gaddock Teeg. It does shut down a small percentage of your deck while leaving yours operational. I know, both have low curves, but pure control counters one and lets the other win. You obviously have to tune your answers to your meta, but Teeg offers shutdown of many used cards for Derevi and Hermit Druid. Most Teeg lists have a moderate Hate Bear theme, which includes Aven Mindcensor, Phyrexian Revoker, Leonin Arbiter, Loxodon Gatekeeper and more. If you are looking for a deck to beat it 100% of the time, good luck, but you can add smart things like RIP in your deck, as well as other reasonable answers. White has the cheap removal, it also has Linvala, it stands as much a chance, if not better, than most other decks.įact of the matter is, hermit druid is a good deck. And, all decks have access to answers for Hermit Druid. Teeg doesn't get wreaked (smelly) by hermit druid, at least not a well built one. The decks curve makes it do you barley blank any cards at all.Įdit: depending how dervis built it's fairly bad aginst that deck too. Quote from Moxnix »Teeg gets wreaked by hermit Druid It only really blocks dread return a good player just taps Druid on upkeep flashes back memories journey for cmc 1 removal / reanimate and all you accomplished was nothing, what's worse is aside from Afew cards like path and STP you don't get a good early action density aginst the deck, so it can send it's duress effects elsewhere almost completely ignoring you. Dedicated doomsday is not bad here be user you can race Druid and still play enough control to tempo a turn or 2 and the mana barrier to win is low enough you can get underneath derevi and with Druid as target number 1 you would be in a really good spot espically since going all in at a table like this gets high win % compared to playing safe like you would against lesser decks. With a winter orb deck you want lots of mana rocks in your core build fur that deck but control cards in the same spots on your curve for Druid so it's defiantly an uphill battle. Derevi Druid will be a rough table due to the fact derevi will be using cards that lock you all not just focus Druid. Them all as it will require some lockout or combo of your own once you stabilize. Honestly if you fighting mutiple combo decks it's far easier to just race them with your own combo than attempt to stop Typically you could just play some sort if mana denial but druid is going force you to use a high density of cmc 0-2 targeted control cards to keep him at bay. With hermit Druid and other tier 1 combos a healthy amount of GY hate is pretty much required in control due to Druid. I don't think cards like stranglehold are the answers your looking fir as a combo player that type of hate card is often times not even a road block. The fact that no commander in these colour combinations truly speak to me.Īm I going into a right direction? Will mono red or R/x powerful enough to hose such competitive meta? Could you help me pick a commander for this deck? This torn me apart since I can't make up my mind whether to go mono red or red-white. However, white can provide a lot of powerful effect in Hushwing Gryff, Stony Silence, Linvala, Keeper of Silence and the like. Price of Glory, Stranglehold, From the Ashes not to mention the powerful Blood Moon and its magus. I believe that red has the best tools for such matter e.g. It should shut down the popular strategies in the format such as ETB, tutor, infinite combo and the like. Fortunately, it's not like people stop using their less competitive decks, hence, I think I'll retain my Brago but simply build a competitive deck to combat theirs instead. It's quite powerful and occasionally can make the above lists kneel, however, the cold hard truth is that I have to take out some of my fun stuff in order to make it a proper deck against those monsters. There are contemplations of making fast Uril aggro and the like. Another one has a typical degenerate Derevi lockdown. One of my buddy finally complete his hermit druid combo. My local area has had a competitive turn recently.
